Day 18 -> Your views on gay marriage.

I think the Wiccan rede handles gay marriage best…

“an it harm none, do as ye will”

M-2-MI don’t think homosexuality is part of the natural process of the species, but I’m in no way against it. It doesn’t play any part in procreation, which makes it seem more of a “for fun” activity. Although that does seem to take a step away from marriage, which is more of a “forever” type activity.
Humans aren’t the only species that engages in homosexuality though. Male dolphins also pair off, but then it’s only for a few hours. They go off and …er… play with each other for a while. In the end, they come back into the pod and look for a female with whom they’ll mate and bare offspring.

I find that people who are insecure about who they are, tend to be the anti gays. Fortunately, I don’t fall into that category. I know who I am, and as such, homosexual people don’t scare me.
Yes I said “scare”.
In my puny experience of the world, it’s the people who are afraid of something that oppose it most. We’ll never be able to say whether they are scared of becoming gay (like it’s catchy or something) or whether they already know that it’s inside them (because they’ve felt stirrings for another man or woman) and know that their church or their social group will ostracise them if they ever found out. Either way, it’s generally fear that leads people to rampant opposition.
You can’t be converted into a gay. Either it’s in you (possibly buried very deeply) or it’s not. Gays will never try to convert you to “the dark side”, because they already know that.
At the very worst, they may have a crush on you. Which is really quite flattering and harmless.

If a man is happiest when he’s with another man. Kudos to him.
At least he’s found his happiness. Can you honestly say that you have found yours?

In my view it all comes back to the Wiccan rede: “an it harm none, do as ye will”
